What is Business Expense insurance?

Every small business owner knows if they are unable to work not only do they suffer a loss of income (if they don’t have income protection insurance), but many of their expenses are fixed and must continue to be paid. Business expense insurance is designed to cover the usual fixed expenses incurred by a business whilst the insured is unable to work.

Business expense insurance covers a number of costs for a defined period. Examples include:

  • Employee salaries (if they are non-income producing)
  • Rent and outgoings
  • Every day operating expenses e.g. electricity
  • Lease payments
  • Interest on a business loan
  • Contractor to fill role of owner
